The Every Buddies Beautiful Fashion Show at Plant City High School has grown into a popular production since it was first staged in 2007. The models are members of the school’s Best Buddies Club, which pairs students who have mental and physical challenges, from blindness to autism, with students from the general school population. |

It is well known how important prom night can be in the life of a student. The Best Buddies Friendship Ball is symbolic, however, of just how significant and extraordinary such an event truly can be.
On May 1, 2010, greeted by local titleholders from the Miss Teen USA Pageant and the Florida Panthers Ice Dancers, 300 middle and high school students from all over Broward County attended the “Tenth Annual Best Buddies Friendship Ball,” a socially-integrated prom for students both with and without intellectual disabilities.
Themed “Fire and Ice,” this year’s Ball was charitably hosted by the Crowne Plaza – Fort Lauderdale at Sawgrass Mills with additional support from Audi Pembroke Pines and several local businesses.
Festivities included music provided by Jamrock Entertainment and performances featuring the acclaimed break-dancing troupe, No Bodies Crew. Additional highlights included a rose exchange ceremony, awards presentation and professional photographs provided by University Studios.
Parents from Parkland to Hallandale Beach and everywhere in between also were able to enjoy the prom experience at the simultaneously held “Best Buddies Circle of Friends Dinner & Cocktail Reception” for adult community supporters at the Crowne’s Peyton’s Place Restaurant and Tavern.
Prom night was indeed special for all the Friendship Ball attendees who enjoyed great music, food, and most importantly, another major milestone in the mission to eliminate the social barriers between people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.
