The Friendship Ball is an annual highlight of Florida's programs. It is a favorite and “must-attend” activity on the calendar for many of our participants. This dance is a prom-like event that is put on by staff every spring in all five Best Buddies Florida cities for our High School and College programs. This event is so special in that it gives hundreds of teenagers with an intellectual disability the opportunity to experience a real high school formal, complete with the crowning of the Friendship Ball court.
In 2008, our Friendship Balls drew record attendance with themes including Masquerade, Friendship Through the Movies, A Night in Paris, Hollywood Famous and Havana Nights. Best Buddies Florida relies on the support of charitable community members and businesses to help cover costs incurred by hosting this event free of charge to our participants.
